Pupils create shadow puppets for Chinese New Year
“Pupils from Year 4 took part in an all-day workshop with storyteller, performer and shadow puppet theatre artist Amy Lloyd-Jones this week.
Since reading ‘How to Train your Dragon’ in class, Year 4 have become dragon experts. In their Art lessons we have been looking at dragons in different cultures. With Chinese New Year celebrations underway, it was the perfect opportunity to hear more about some Chinese dragon legends.” Quoted from Clifton College website, January 2017

“To start the workshop, pupils became puppeteers using Amy’s fantastical shadow puppets and original Chinese puppets as they re-enacted the myth of The Four Dragons, which tells of how China got its four main rivers.”

“It was then time to make their own dragons, using card and coloured acetates before finally creating their own shadow puppet theatre of dragon dances.”
Art teacher Lara Saxby said: “It was a joy to see the children’s skills as artists, makers and storytellers come together through playing with the puppets they had created.”Clifton College, Shadow Puppet Workshop, Chinese New Year Dragons
