Wooden man meets Gugumatz the feathered spirit:This show was created following several requests from primary schools who wanted to combine a study of ancient civilizations with the science, art, literacy and engineering skills involved in puppet making. The study of the Mayans and Guatemala are now part of the Eddison Curriculum.

In Mayan art, there are many images believed to be connected to the idea of the universe as a sacred world tree. This tree was also depicted as a crocodile standing upright with its arms holding up the sky. The heavens are formed from its head and the earth, at its centre, is linked to the underworld… via its tail!
